Matt Chahda Motorsport (MCM) have announced that Aron Shields will stand in for the next two Dunlop Super 2 Series rounds while Matt tackles the main game with Brad Vaughan in a Triple Eight Camaro.

Shields currently races in the Porsche Sprint Challenge finished runner up in the 2023 season and after a recent test with the Super 2 team, MCM found Shields to be the perfect fill in for Matt as he puts his full focus in the next two Supercar rounds.

“It’s awesome. He tested here a couple of weeks ago with us, we gave him a bit of a run and he impressed us” Said Amin Chahda.

Shields has been trackside observing the team during today’s test day at Winton as they prepare the Gen 3 Camaro and will jump into his “new” Super 2 ZB Commodore tomorrow. The MCM Commodore will have a makeover before Sandown with the car receiving a new livery as well as a new number. #18 will now be switched to #116.

Amin Chahda has also hinted at the possibility that Shields will in fact be in the car full time in 2025. With Matt potentially stepping back from driving duties and focusing on mentoring and engineering. Chahda is expected to make a Super 2 return for the final Dunlop Series round at the Adelaide 500 in November.
