Oliver Goethe will make his FIA Formula 2 debut with MP Motorsport this weekend at Monza, stepping in for the Formula 1-bound Franco Colapinto. Goethe, a member of the Red Bull Junior Team, is moving up from Formula 3, where he has been a standout competitor.

Goethe’s rise comes after two seasons in Formula 3—racing for Trident in 2023 and Campos Racing in 2024. He previously competed in Formula 3 rounds at Budapest and Spa-Francorchamps in 2022. In his rookie season, he finished eighth and is currently seventh in the standings, with two race wins and two additional podiums to his name.

Reflecting on his time in Formula 3, Goethe expressed gratitude and excitement as he prepares to take on the challenges of Formula 2 with MP Motorsport starting at the Monza round.

“My goals for this weekend are to soak up all the information MP Motorsport provides me with and learn as much as I can. It won’t be easy even on a track I know well because all my competitors have so much more experience than me and I got the call so late that I didn’t have a chance to do simulator prep for F2.” Goethe said.

“Overall, I’m happy with my consistency this year and my win and podiums. I am a bit sad that I can’t finish my F3 season as planned, I would have loved to go out with a bang with my Campos Racing team. I wish good luck to them and to the drivers still in the fight for the title. I will be following the races for sure.”

2025 Australian GP Tickets to be on sale in October

Published

on

Tickets for the 2025 Australian Grand Prix will go on sale to the public on October 8, with pre-sale access available starting October 7 for those registered with the Ticketmaster Ballot Presale. Fans can sign up for the pre-sale for free until October 3.

The Melbourne event, scheduled for March 13-16, will open the 2025 Formula 1 season. This marks the first time since 2019 that Australia will host the season opener, as the 2020 event was canceled before the F1 calendar could start.

Next year’s Australian Grand Prix will be notable for several reasons. It will be Jack Doohan’s F1 race debut with Alpine, joining Pierre Gasly. With Oscar Piastri also confirmed at McLaren, there will be at least two Australians on the grid, and possibly three if Daniel Ricciardo secures a new contract with RB. Liam Lawson’s inclusion could further add a New Zealander to the lineup.

The Australian Grand Prix is renowned for its extensive four-day program, featuring a robust support lineup including Formula 2, Formula 3, Supercars, and Porsche Carrera Cup Australia.

Ticket prices start at $45 for a Thursday general admission pass, with grandstand seats from $125. Kids under 14 can attend Thursday for free or all four days for $25 when accompanied by a paying adult. Given the event’s popularity, with record crowds of 452,055 in 2024 and 444,631 in 2023, tickets are expected to sell quickly.

Australian GP boss Travis Auld expressed excitement about the 2025 event, highlighting the anticipated debut of Jack Doohan, the return of Lewis Hamilton in Ferrari red, and Oscar Piastri’s potential podium performance in front of Australian fans.

The Australian Grand Prix is managed by Liberty Media, the commercial rights holder of Formula 1, with Ticketmaster handling ticket sales.
