SRO Revives Shannons SpeedSeries for 2025

SRO Motorsport Australia has revived the Shannons SpeedSeries name for 2025, featuring an “all new” line up of categories.

The SpeedSeries previously ran under Motorsport Australia and had been around since 2006, running under numerous names. The most recent variation of the SpeedSeries included the likes of Trans Am, TCR Series, Production Cars and of course the GT World Challenge Australia which ultimately ended last November at the Bathurst International.

With SRO Motorsport Australia taking over the reigns, this year’s SpeedSeries is set to have a more GT-focused approach with events such as GT World Challenge Australia, Monochrome GT4, Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge, Radical Cup and Ferrari Challenge headlining the series.

“We are extremely excited about the opportunity to retain the Shannons SpeedSeries name in 2025 and continue this series’ great legacy,” said Ben McMellan, CEO of SRO Motorsport Australia.

“The Shannons SpeedSeries name carries significant credibility and familiarity within the Australian motorsport community and we believe it was important to integrate it into the new era led by SRO Motorsports Australia.”

The 2025 SpeedSeries will take place over six rounds across five different states, with the season opener taking place in April at the famous Phillip Island Circuit. The Series will also head overseas with the final round of 2025 taking place at Hampton Downs in New Zealand in October.

• Round 1: Phillip Island, VIC – April 4-6
• Round 2: Sydney Motorsport Park, NSW – May 2-4
• Round 3: Queensland Raceway, QLD – May 30 – June 1
• Round 4: Sandown Raceway, VIC – July 25-27
• Round 5: Shell V-Power Motorsport Park, SA – September 5-7
• Round 6: Hampton Downs, NZ – October 31-November 2
