Super3 Comes To An End, Series Gets Axed for 2025

Super3 will cease to exist in 2025.

The Super3 Series will officially not continue into next season. The category’s fate has been filled with uncertainty for quite some time with the vastly small grid size.

Next season, the current spec Super3 cars – VF Commodore, FGX Falcon and the Nissan Altima will now be eligible to compete in the Super2 Series. The current Super3 cars already race alongside the Super2 spec ZB Commodore and Ford Mustangs.

“We’re pleased to expand the eligibility requirements of the Dunlop Series from 2025, which we believe will create greater opportunity for teams and aspiring drivers looking to compete,” said Tim Edwards.

“With five car models now eligible, we’re expecting to see continued strength in car counts and car diversity on-track, while still delivering the robust, wheel-to-wheel racing that fans love and the Dunlop Series is known for.”

Since the introduction of the Car of the Future models in the third-tier series, Super3 has drastically declined in grid numbers. Prior to 2023, Super3 was previously ran with the project blueprint cars – VE Commodore and the FG Falcon. During the Blueprint era, Super3 saw the likes of Broc Feeney, Nash Morris and Brad Vaughan claim the championship.

Since the current era of Super3, Jobe Stewart and now Cody Burcher have been able to claim the championship in their VF commodore and Nissan Altima respectively.

“In recent years we have seen several instances of drivers in Super3 more than holding their own against Super2 competitors.” Edwards said.

“It makes sense for us to bring all of these cars under one banner from the 2025 season and allow those teams and drivers to compete in Super2.

“We are confident it will only add to the on-track competition and challenge to win the Super2 Series title.”

Published

on

The three Super2 championship contenders will have all locked in a top 3 grid position for tomorrow’s Race 1 of the weekend with championship leader Zach Bates taking pole position ahead of Aaron Cameron and Kai Allen on row 2 in 3rd position.

The session was halted due to a major red flag crash for Ruben Goodall having a monster incident at turn 4. Qualifying for Sundays race will take place later today at 4:55pm

There are no Super 2 races today, the racing action will kick off tomorrow for Race 1 at 11:40am.
