Toyota rising star set for Super2 debut in Ex-DJR Mustang

Anderson Motorsport has acquired another Ex-DJR Mustang as they’re set to expand with Toyota young gun.

After a successful 2024 season in Dunlop Super2 Series, Anderson Motorsport are set to expand their team next season after signing a multi-year deal with 17 year old rising star Ryan Tomsett.

Tomsett has been fairly impressive in 2024 and has caught the attention of Anderson Motorsport’s boss Michael Anderson as the young gun sits in the top ten of the TGRA GR Cup standings.

“He’s shown good speed, from last year at Tailem Bend where he put it on pole and then set the race-winning lap record,” explained Michael Anderson.

“I heavily watch the 86s because it’s a very good breeding ground for Supercars. We saw that from right back to when we ran Declan Fraser in Super3.”

The 17 year-old young gun shared his excitement as he awaits for his first laps in a Supercar.

“I can’t wait for the challenges that I’ve got coming up. It’s going to be a very big few years.” said Tomsett.

“It’s good to have that multi-year deal in the back of your head, so the first year you can go out there, learn as much as you can and take it all in.”

Since their debut in 2023, the squad has generally ran one car starting with Zak Best as he fought for the title against Kai Allen and now Max Vidau, who has been impressive in his debutant year, with currently lead the rookie standings. Vidau battled a severe case of food poisoning at Bathurst last weekend and despite the illness, Vidau pulled off an incredible effort to claim the round podium.

As the Dunlop Series heads into their final round at the upcoming VAILO Adelaide 500 in November, Vidau sits fourth in the Super2 standings and is still mathematically in contention for the title win with only 150 points.
