Josh Waters has claimed his first win since Sydney Motorsport Park as he now has one hand on the championship trophy as the series heads into their final race.

Race 2 was interrupted with a short red flag period after marshals cleaned up oil left on track from Tom Toparis’ Yamaha. Once the race resumed Waters got off the line well and was untouchable.

The battle for the final podium positions produced some exciting racing with both Herfoss, Jones, Sissis and West all fighting hard. Coming off the back of a great result in the previous race, Arthur Sissis got off the line very well prior to the red flag.

Reining champ Troy Herfoss was able to bounce back from a shunt in yesterday’s race to maintain second position for the whole race until, Mike Jones pulled an unbelievable pass on the final corner to steal second place and keep the title fight between himself and Josh Waters to the final race. With Jones finishing 2nd, the gap between the two is now 25 points.

Ty Lynch was able to comeback from a tricky start to the weekend to finish just outisde the ten in 11th and will be looking to finish his debut season on a high in front of his home crowd.

Mike Jones claims the first win of the weekend as he continues to keep the title fight against Josh Waters alive in the final round.

Josh Waters was able to take the early lead ahead of Jones as the two left the pack in the dust. It was looking to be Waters’ race to win until Jones was able to make a dive in the final sector to secure the race win. Waters still leads the championship, however Jones has been able to shrink the gap down to 20 points and with two races still to go in 2024, the fight is far from over.

Former Moto 3 star, Arthur Sissis managed to score another ASBK podium after a beautiful performance. After another cracking battle between the two, Anthony West finishes fourth ahead of Broc Pearson in fifth.

Reining champ, Troy Herfoss was sitting third behind the two front runnners until he crashed out in the back end of the race. Herfoss seemed ok however the bike will need some decent repairs.

Hometown hero, Ty Lynch unfortunately retired mid race due to an ongoing shoulder problem. Lynch has been impressive in his rookie season, finishing in the top 10 numerous times and almost making it on the podium in Phillip Island however, he’s hard a tricky start to his home weekend after a few gremlins and incidents in the earlier sessions.

ASBK will have two more races tomorrow to determine it’s 2024 Superbike champion.

Broc Feeney will pilot two different Supercars at the upcoming Australian Superbike round for their famous first time appearance at One Raceway on October 5-6.

Triple Eight will use both the ZB commodore Feeney won the Adelaide 500 back in 2022 as well as a Gen-3 spec Camaro. The demo will be part of the celebration for the return of the iconic venue which was once known as Wakefield Park.

Despite having a strong career in four-wheeled racing, the Feeney name has been well known and linked to two-wheeled racing with Broc’s father, Paul, being a Superbike legend.

“I’m super excited to announce that we’ll be heading to Goulburn for the opening of One Raceway at the ASBK round,” said the Triple Eight driver.

“There’s going to be some really cool things happening on the day. I’ll be setting lap times in both directions of the track, we’ll have our Bathurst 1000 cars on display for fans to see, I’ll host a signing session and will also do a demonstration lap with my dad who has so much history with the Australian Superbike Championship.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun before we tackle the Mountain the following weekend just up the road in Bathurst.”

Motorcycling Australia CEO Peter Doyle shared his excitement with the addition for Supercars to join Superbikes:

 “The reopening of One Raceway after a suite of upgrades is a huge shot in the arm for motorsport in Australia, and to have Red Bull Ampol Racing join us at the ASBK Championship round is going to make for a spectacular event.”
